Abstract

|
The sacral area is particularly susceptible to pressure sore in paralyzed, debilitated and bedridden patient due to underlying broad flat bony prominence and the relative paucity of soft tissue padding.
Several operative procedures have been advocated for treatment of sacral pressure sores. It is valuable to have several choice of operative procedures for this problem.
We have found that detachment of the periosteal and ligamentous orgin of the Gluteous maximus allows for the medial movement of the unusually large Myocutaneous flaps with maintenance of both gluteal & femoral blood supply along with preservation of muscular integrity & function.
We have performed operation for 12 cases of sacral sore using Gluteal sliding and application. The end result were satisfactory so we would like to report our cases with review of literatures.
